Question I know collecting "likes" is now an olympic sport - or nearly

I see now we can "like" a post... indeed, I enjoy seeing people "like" some of mine... but, um... why did we put this in as an option?

Has anyone, to date, spun a "like" the got into a longer discussion about the item on the thread?

Or is it just to be "like" (ha ha) FB is?

not a biggie, I have just been curious about this for a while...

I think folks have gotten used to Facebook, and it is easy and convenient to click a "like" button, without cluttering up a thread with "me too!" or whathaveyou. Have no idea about pugvillage likes, because I am new here :)

It was just one of those things that came automatically when the forum software was upgraded this last time.... I think it's supposed to be similar to the Facebook "likes."

Trust me to get it wrong, I thought the 'like' button was a way of saying the reader admired the phrasing of a piece, quality of thought or clarity of photos. Clearly, I have no experience with FB.

You've got it right. That's exactly why I would "like" a post!
I have very little experience with FB, but I believe the whole idea of a button or link to say that you like/admire/appreciate something started on Facebook and now the idea has spread to message boards and other areas of the internet. So, if you like what someone posted, then clicking on the "like" link is just a simple way of saying that, with or without adding additional comments in a posted reply.

I like the "like" button...been wondering if everyone else likes it too:) I use it when I like a picture or comment, sometimes I like to "like" something even if I don't have any comments to add....nice to be able to give or get feedback to/from people. Did that make any sense lol.
