Default FDA analyzing imported Chicken Jerky

I just saw this article online and wanted to pass it along. The alert was issued in November but apparently the FDA is still getting reports of dogs becoming sick. Bottom line - if you're getting chicken treats for your dogs, make sure they aren't coming from China.

I wouldn't give my pets anything to eat from China. They don't care who they kill with their garbage.

How do you know where the treat is from?

It's not easy to tell where treats come from.

I did check the treats I have. 2 had the country, 1 of those was from China and went to the can. The other was US. The third was not specified but had come from Whole Foods so I'll go with it being ok.
Really though the country of origin is not that reliable. The food several years ago had been made in the US from food stock imported from China, so it's not really reliable to determine much of anything.

I too, went to get 'potty treats' at the pet store yesterday and grilled the poor girl working there. She told me that her store "TISOL" only carries 1 brand of dry dog kibble made in China (but inspected by Canadian inspectors, whatever thats worth) and the rest of the dry kibble (didn't ask about wet) was made in either Canada or the US. I also made sure the treats that I purchased were made in Canada.
Why do we (our government) continue to deal with China when apparently they don't give a damn about the health & welfare of humans or animals?
If the reason comes down to economics (the almighty dollar), then apparently we (our government) doesn't give a damn about the health & welfare of humans or animals either!

Business and people will raise hell when the government (yours or ours)tries to limit who businesses do business with. It goes against free enterprise.
