    Default Feeding...

Hi there, I'm new to the site. I have two lovely black pugs called Queenie and Hector, they're 16 weeks. I currently feed them 3 times a day, porridge with goats milk in the morning, dry food (high protein) and tripe in the afternoon and rice pudding at dinner time. Their last feed is around 6/6.30pm. What I wanted to know is 1) am I feeding them too much and 2) should I cut one of the wet foods out i.e. the rice pudding and give them their tripe and dry biscuits?

    Would really love some advice.
    Thank you!

Just my opinion but, I wouldn't give them the milk or the rice pudding. They don't need milk once weaned from the dam and rice is a carb which dogs don't need.
Feed them a high quality grain free kibble. 1/3 cup - 3 X a day.
Pure pumpkin(not pie filling) is good for firming up poops - 1tbsp a day.
You can use the tripe as a topper but if you do, cut back the amount of kibble as tripe is very rich.
Go sparingly with treats, maybe just for training and when they do their business outside.
Pugs tend to gain weight very easily which in turn can cause a lot of health issues for a pug including respiratory problems and hip & joint problems.
Feeding raw is best and there is a lot of good advice on that subject in the diet forum.
Good Luck with Hector and Queenie and to the Village!

Welcome to the Village. I am not the one to help with your feeding questions because basically I don't even have a clue as to what porridge, tripe or rice pudding even is. Sorry... But I will bet that when the more knowledgable villagers start to answer they will want to know the quantities of these things!!!!

Porridge is cream of wheat or oatmeal. Rice pudding is just that, a pudding made from rice and tripe is the lining of a cow's stomach (could also be vennison or lamb) and the contents. My huskies go crazy for green tripe!

I tried to flick the buggie off my screen, too. You are messing with our heads, Patrice. Back to the original post. Hello and to PugVillage. Glad you have joined us. You have been given some good advice about feeding your Puggies. No need for porridge or rice pudding.
