Home-Prepared Dog and Cat Diets Book Available Free | The Bark

The specialist copied a few diets to try on P-Nut out of her reference book on homemade and special diets. I asked her to copy the cover as well, so I might purchase the book. Went to find it online and was floored to see that rather than release a third edition, the author kindly decided to put the book online for free access to everyone. People are great!

    Take care,

That is awesome! Thank you for sharing it, Lisa. I am going to move it to the food section of PV and then sticky it.

DefaultHomemade food and exess gas ;)

Our Pug Beckham was diganosed in Jan.... we started him on the vet recommended WD wet/dry food. and occasionally giving him homemade stews.. Recently he has stopped eating the wet food..> I did make a ground beef stew with sweet potatoes and chicken broth a little cinnamon .... ( this was before he stopped eating the wet food ) this time around I have made him a chicken stew ( sweet potato chicken breast and broth again little cinnamon ) *** is a little corn starch ok ** and that gave him what we call the "chicken farts" which started making my DW nauseous. So we went out last night and bought some steak, and I whipped together another stew ( steak, sweet potato, cinnamon and broth )... last night.. He was stinky again... I am wondering I am perfectly ok making his meals.. however I know that "table scraps" which is what making their food is .. glorified table scraps just with out the bad stuff that can't have.... I am wondering what options I have ( i will look at the book and other posts as well ) on a diet that I can make that doesn't make him overly gassy..... I am only putting this here for input and suggestions from what other puggie owners have tried ... I appreciate any and all feedback.

My hounds are doing well on "homemade" which is shipped to me... brand is The Farmer's Dog... we do well on the turkey or the beef (I just don't love pork, so I don't like serving it to them is all)... It arrives frozen in packets that are "one day's worth" of food... of course, I made up a fictional dog so each packet is one day's worth of food for by two dogs.

You have to keep the packets in your fridge, defrosting one or two at a time for 12-24 hours before serving.

We have NO GAS, nice dry, solid, small, regular (scheduled) poops!

Other findings (for us): Milk Bones make my hounds VERY gassy.. the "retriever" brand of bones at Tractor Supply do NOT!

Ayleash ... Sponsor of the Pugs: Captain and Niko, and Pack leader of: Tigger (2005-2016), and ...My SECOND rescue Terrier... a girl for Tigger... Ohna... and now... DECKER!! (The Dog Formerly Known As (TDFKA) Batman!)

See some pics of my life recently (including the hounds, of course) at:https://picasaweb.google.com/1045433...eat=directlink and http://picasaweb.google.com/engntnc
