DefaultHow much food for a 10 week old?

    Hi Everyone,

It's been a long time since I've been on here. I just picked up my new puppy, Nora, a week ago and I'm struggling with knowing how much/how often to feed. I lost my 15 1/2 year old pug, Rosey, in December, so it's been a long time since I've been in the puppy stage.

The breeder had her on Royal Canin so that's what I'm sticking with. The bag says 7/8 of a cup per day! Does that seem like a lot? I was feeding close to that and Nora would throw up undigested food shortly after eating. I've cut it back to 1/4 cup, three times per day, but she still always acts hungry....especially right before bed or when she wakes up at 5:30 a.m.

Thank you for any help! She sees the vet for her first appointment at the end of this week, so I thought I'd ask all of you before then.

Are you flood/wet her food ?
The Breeder usually knows what is best and you can call and ask about it. I say 4 times a day for now .
We feed our boys a teaspoon of white rice before bedtime and at lunch it helps with acid reflux. I think some puppies could get a tiny amount of cottage cheese .

Congrats a puppy is exciting and stress full . But mostly exciting .
    Sorry about Rosey .

THANK YOU so much for replying to my post!! A new puppy is the best, but I just don't want to do anything to mess up! Just like a new parent! LOL!

The breeder was free feeding the litter. I don't really want to do that because when I go back to work, I want to make sure she's on a schedule.
She's getting Royal Canin puppy/ dry food. I usually wet it down with some warm water. I'm thinking of getting a slow feeder bowl, too. Nora almost inhales her food...I swear she doesn't chew anything!

    I really appreciate your response!

If she is an inhaler you can always dish it out in spoons for now. My Bruno has such a squished face he could not get anything out of this slow feeders . Gordon was to smart he just toppled all food one the floor .

I don't have any feeding advice, but I wanted to say Congratulations on your new puppy.

Congratulations, I lost two of my older puggies within the last 6 months and now have a pup, Lucy. I feed her between 1/4 to 1/3 cup 3 times a day.

You can also use a muffin tin to split the food into and that will slow her down.
