Default Hope I'm doing this right

Hello everyone I'm LadyReed. I just adopted a 1 year old pug. Ive named her Tootie. She's only been with me for 2 days now. Ive always loved pugs. Now that I own one I see she just isn't an ordinary dog. She does the funniest and the strangest things. I'm open for advice. Please tell me more about this breed. Thank you!

Hi, and Pugs are surely in a class by themselves! Louie, at 10, still keeps me laughing! His deep nose wrinkle is my biggest challenge, but if cleaned and wiped dry daily, stays nice and Puggly!

Thanks everyone. Do all pugs act almost like cats? And I'm trying to find a food that she can eat and my big dog xan eat too. Does anyone have any suggestions? I have so many questions. I don't know where to start. I will post pictures very soon.

Some pugs take a while to "Get comfortable" and then they "Take over" and train YOU! Food is a big question... imo (and not everyone agrees with me), when a dog is hungry, it will eat what is offered... unless it's actually sick - or has an allergy which usually shows in reactions like itching or loose stools... that being said, it should take about a week to "ease" a new food into a dog's system.. only replacing a bit of their original food with the new a little more each day... (feeding twice a day, btw?)... I do this "Easing" even with new bags of the same brand... in case there is anything "different" in the new "batch"...

Then there are different "value" treats... and toys for that matter: an antler (way less dangerous than rawhide - we don't EVER do rawhides in my pack) or a knuckle or marrow bone can be VERY valuable (read: lead to bloodletting of humans and dogs)... a stuffed animal (we don't do these either because of eating stuffings) or a ball is "fun" but not necessarily kill-worthy (except perhaps to a terrier)... and some treats (i.e. chicken (TINY pieces - like HALF your smallest finger's nail) and turkey/bacon) can be very response-inducing... while cheerios and milk bones might get a response, but not a "bullet" return nor a "bomb proof" sit or down...

    'hope this helps!
