Default Hello! Rescue dog 5 year old Roxy

    Hi everyone!

Yesterday I adopted a beautiful 5 year old Pug called Roxy; she was very badly treated and has no teeth left and had ear mites all in her ears when they rescued her

She is fully house trained but the thing is she keeps on trying to 'wee' up furniture fittings in the house. She does go outside regularly and I know shes only marking her scent but as my first ever dog is there any way I can prevent this or try and stop her?

    Thanks

Thank you for taking her in. Poor baby. It sounds like she was really neglected. No teeth left and ear mites at only 5 years old. That makes me so mad that previous owners let her get in that condition.
She just needs time to settle in. Are you home with her all day? Does she have a crate? An x-pen with puppy pads should help or the use of a baby gate. If you are home with her sometimes leashing her to you while you go about the house might help. That way you can keep her in your site. Just keep taking her out as often as you can. I'm sure she will settle down once she has her routine in place.
Also praise & a treat when she goes outside.
Best of luck to you & Roxy.

Hello & to the village! Thanks for adopting Roxie! Has she been to a vet? She might have a UTI. Please post pics when you get a chance. Glad to have you aboard!

Thank you so much for taking her in. Pugs are very resilient, the love you will get from her will be amazing.

Welcome to Pug Village, I'm so glad you found us. Thank you so much for rescuing this poor baby. I would have her checked for a UTI first and then when she has been checked for anything medical that might be wrong, you can start training her not to do that. It might be she is just freaked out to be in a totally different environment. Let us know how she is doing and how she is settling in. We love pictures when you have time to post some.

Hello and welcome! Roxy's sweet face in your profile picture is just adorable! I agree with what others have said, just keep her in your sight all the time, and when you see her start to go, say "uh uh" or something to just distract her so she stops, then immediately take her outside and when she goes out there, praise her like mad and give lots of treats!!! She'll soon get the idea that it's not to be done inside. :)
