Default Hello!! I need some advice about my pug Louis

    Hi all!
I have an 18 month year old fawn pug called Louis. He is a very hyperactive pug and very happy all the time. This past week he has become very lethargic (sleeping most of the day) and his left back leg seems to be giving way. He's very wary of going up and down the stairs and jumping off the sofa. He's never done this before. I have felt his legs and he doesn't seem to be in pain and he's not flinching at all. When I take him for walks and let him off the lead he seems to be fine, sprinting around and jumping. When I get home he goes back to this lethargic pug. I don't want to make a unnecessary trip to the vets if this is just Louis being lazy. Any advice would be great! Thank you all Hollie.

He is at a prime age for Legg-Calve-Perthes Disease. Limping in a young and otherwise healthy dog is cause for concern. I think in this case I would take him in and tell them you definitely want to rule out LCP's and insist on a high resolution digital x-ray. Normal x-rays can't see the necrosis unless it is REALLY bad.

Sorry, I know that is not what you or your pocketbook want to hear.

    Take care,

I don't think your Pug is just being lazy. If he hasn't been doing this before, I think it calls for a vet visit. Good luck, let us know what you find out. By the way, welcome to Pug Village. This is a very good site to find out and share about Pugs.

Hi everyone! Been to the vets this morning as Louis had an episode this morning, he woke up and have a big stretch and as he did he froze and yelped, he the wet himself and was shaking for a while, took him to the vets and they have him a check over, looked at his back legs etc. the bet did say he sits a bit weird but he doesn't seem to have broken anything in his legs because he would be holding it up. They want us to video record the next time this happens so thy can have a clearer picture, got him home after the vets and he is still VERY lethargic, going to keep an eye on him over the next week and if this continues he will be back to the vets. Fingers crossed he gets better!
Thank you for all your help aswell and the kind wishes

Positive thoughts for Louis, I hope the vet can figure out what the issue is and Louis can overcome it.
