    Hello Everyone
    I am a new pug grandpa. My 14 year old son is the pug dad. His name is Pancho and he was gifted to us by friend of a friend. We believe he was the runt of the litter. he is only 1.7 lbs and is just over 9 weeks old. We took him to the vet because ehe had diarrhea. He had a protozoa and was teated by the vet. He was super lethargic and looked skinny. He's a lot better now. He's gotten super active and spunky which is a HUGE relief. He's been a bit picky about food. We made him chicken and rice to help with his digestion. Ive also cooked him ground beef and sweet potatoes.
    My question is should i be trying to get him to gain weight? If so what do you suggest? Or do i just feed him when he's hungry and let hime do his thing?

    Hi!!

    He should be fed 3x a day and should have puppy food so that he has the right nutrients to grow.

    thank you for the reply.

    We were feeding him KIWI brand puppy food. But he hasn't been liking it lately. Can i cook for him and if so what can i do to ensure he has nutrients? And if not what puppy food do you recommend? I want to give him kibble but i feel like he's too small.

    I feed royal canin puppy food or mousse to young pups.....He's awfully small....so I thinkI'd start with that. Find kibble that's small and you can mix it. I use Eukanuba...but there are others too! Since he's so small...I think I'd feed 4x day for a bit....as much as he'll eat at one time.... You can also cook and then add that to the kibble.

    I don't know about cooking for your dog...a lot has to go into it to be balanced.
