Hi, we have recently had a 2 year old pug called Ted. He seems to be settling in really well, few allergy issues but the vet is helping us with them. The only issue is separation, especially at night. We live in a flat so he is only the other side of my door. He cries and scratches the door, it is so hard not to open it! Night two and I could really do with some advice

    Hi!

I’m afraid I’m not much help at all - both of my pugs sleep with me at night. My girl even sleeps under my duvet with her head on the pillow beside me! I did specifically get two pugs though because they do want to cuddle up to their human at all times. My cocker spaniel is affectionate, but she likes her own space and out of choice sleeps in her own dog bed at night. The pugs are great little hot water bottles to hug if I get cold too!

    Welcome!

I’m afraid I’m no help either. Our Louie sleeps with us as well. We aren’t allowed out of his sight!

I am not sure if I understand the question actually. You say night 2 ? How long have you had your Pug ? What happened where he was before ? I have my Pugs sleep in the kitchen until we moved to our place here. Now they sleep with us. The new puppy likes to snuggle until he is to tired and then goes in his kennel by the bed . The other 2 sleep one on my pillow the other next to my chest.

I, too, am not a big help! I sleep with 4 pugs.

It's new surroundings.....he needs to either be crated by you or in your bed!

Hello and to PugVillage. Glad you have joined us. While my Pug and 2 Chihuahua do not sleep in my bed they do have their nighty night beds right beside mine so I can reach over and pet them. Is there a particular reason your Pug is not at least in your bedroom with you?

    Welcome to PugVillage!

If you've only had him for a couple of nights, it may just take longer for him to settle in and feel more comfortable. Especially if he was accustomed to sleeping on a human bed or right next to the humans at his previous home. You might want to try to make it a comforting routine where you say goodnight and perhaps give him a special blanket or cuddle toy at bedtime.

Thank you 🙂He used to sleep with other dogs so is finding it strange. We have had two quite good nights now. I sit with him by his bed and say goodnight, he has a blanket he brought with him that he sucks too ❤️I have epilepsy and my triggers include tiredness, with him keeping me up when he is in my room, it doesn't work him being in their with me. He left me a nice surprise when I got up for a bit but it has settled down and I am making up for it with plenty of cuddles amd playtime. Safe to say, I am not getting much work done though!
