    Default Nero, my granddaughters dog

My oldest granddaughters dog Nero had emergency surgery last night to remove a blockage from his intestines. Nero came into her life 6 years ago as a sick puppy. She had just recently lost her mom and this little puppy helped her as she was mourning her mom and trying to parent her younger sister.s.
Nero started throwing up on Saturday. She took him to the vet and they did xrays and didn't find anything, sent her home with meds for nausea. He was sicker on Sunday and back to the vet yesterday for more xrays and blood work. They found an intestinal blockage but would not do surgery til she paid $6,000. Needless to say she does not have $6,000. Her sister is a tv reporter and has made a lot of contact so she contacted the person in charge of a non profit No Kill Nebraska and after consulting with the board they are paying for his surgery. So late last night he had surgery and they removed fabric from his stomach and intestines. Probably part of a blanket that he likes to sleep with. I talked to her earlier and he came through surgery well, was resting and they were getting ready to try tube feeding him. He's much better but not out of the woods yet. Prayers and good thoughts for Ashton and Nero would be greatly appreciated.

I hope all is well! What a scare and a blessing to be gifted the surgery! She is such a strong person.

many prayers for Nero and his mom-----and many prayers for the vet needing to skim that much money from a young woman's food budget (please thank everyone involved in covering this ferocious bill)
