Thanks, all. Yes, Christa, the heart and lungs could be stressed from the vacuum and hard work of breathing, but she didn't hear a lot of fluid, so I'm hoping for good news. I don't want to put him through any more surgery unless we know for sure what the likely outcome is, and hate to think of them even scoping the poor guy, he's had so much trouble.
Miguel is coming over tomorrow to take a video of Chainsaw's breathing; he's going to a vet convention later this week and is so sweet, he's going to show it and the x-rays to some specialists there to see if he can get some insight.
Feeling optimistic -- hope we can figure this out once and for all and help my poor boy.

Continued good thoughts!!!
Please get a Care Credit card!!!!! Depending on the amount and the vet, you can have 6,12, or 18 months interest free as long as it's totally paid by the end of the time!

Thanks, Diane. If only I could, but neither my daughter nor I have decent credit, alas.
ETA: Just tried for the heck of it and was refused—in seconds! At least they're efficient. :ugh:

Sending good thoughts for Chainsaw. I am glad that you can work a little extra,I know vet bills are so expensive today.

Yeah, Suri, I'm lucky to be a contract freelance editor for a lot of websites -- even Paw Nation and Daily Puppy, among others. Crummy pay, but plenty of work.
