Chlorhexidine wipes were recommended by our specialist for wiping down the skin, folds, feet etc of allergic dogs. Brand name is CLX.
Food-wise the Wainwrights would on the face of things seem fine, but it does still have rice in it, which can be an issue with some dogs. My Toddy couldn't tolerate rice. The protein source can also be a culprit. Chicken is a big culprit. My Snifter got bad itchies from his food. We never did a full elimination diet in that we did not re-try things to find out exactly what the problem was. It was probably chicken, possibly lamb also. We switched to a fish-based diet and that cleared things up. Fish was a good choice for us because there are so many different kinds of fish that the diet can be fairly varied, protein-wise. We have since introduced a little turkey, which he is fine with.

Good luck with him! If you're going with Wainwrights, I'd give him the grain free version :)

Wonka & Nilla
You've already had excellent advice above so I don't have anything to add, but I wanted to say welcome to PugVillage and I hope you can find some solutions for your boy so that he heals and feels much better soon. :grouphug:

Thanks everyone! You’ve been marvoulous. All your words of wisdom were really helpful. We took him to the vet and they confirmed that he had an allergic reaction to something. My money is on the cat treats/food. He’s got an infection in his ears. Poor little bugger. He’s been told to have some salt water baths, we’ve been given some ear drops to clean it out and some antibiotics twice a day for two weeks and that should get him back up and running.
