I think Ben is half boxer and has flying ear. i know this may sound cruel and may offend somebody. But I just asking a questions please allow me to do so...do some owners request for surgery to have their dogs ears corrected? Not for showing...just private happiness.
I knew Esther Wolf, and was always running into her and her husband Bob at the shows. I am a Nebraska native, and was around the showring during all those years. Although we were not in the same breed at the time, I knew them and liked them very much.

I have NEVER heard of pugs getting their ears surgically corrected. I think for the most part vets would not know what to do with them to correct them.Quote:

I don't know what surgery they could do if they would even consider it. We aren't like the Briards where they remove 1/5th of the ear and then tape them to train them. Could we shorten them when they are too long? Probably but I have never heard of anyone doing that. Most of the time, they are just flying in the breeze and we call them the "flying nun ears". That is when we begin the taping. Shirley Thomas suggests gluing them in her book. We used eyelash adhesive of some kind to do them one time and that was it! No more! It pulled hair off the side of the face. We tape them, usually starting at about 3 months of age and until they lie flat without help. This prevents them from breaking that cartilage that allows the extra fold that creates the rose ear. A couple never did lie flat so they were taped between shows and when they retired, we threw away their tape. I do show my pet puppy people how to tape and they do it because they want flat ears too.

Misty's are rose but she doesn't care! What a beautiful face and those pretty eyes! Hers could ahve been taped during her teething period and they would have been button. But who cares? Do they make her face less beautiful? NOT!
