Default Chocolate and tan pedigree pugs??

Recently there's been a number of adverts stating they have 'pedigree chocolate and tan pugs with 5 gen papers' for sale.....What's that all about?! They literally are black /chocolate and fawn coloured and DO look like pugs. But they're not are they? Is this 'craze' in the States too?

I'm used to the adverts for 'very rare' white pugs and I know they're not pedigree. But chocolate and tan?? That's a new one to me. Just wondered if anyone had heard about it.
    Apparently they're from Belgium??

They're actually really cute little creatures!

Yup, in the pug bloodline you only have the colour genetics for fawn, and black. Any others need to have some mixed grandparent somewhere.

I've seen pics and they are indeed cute. But they won't be pure pug.

Would that be like what you see here, on the left? What could be the other breed involved, I wonder?

Trying to decide if it's just the colours in the photograph that the dog on the left appears to have white eyebrow patches since I can only think of tri colour breeds that always have tan eyebrow patches. If they are tan, then I'd tend to think there was some Cavalier King Charles in there, particularly since I've seen a few adverts for this particular cross. Some of the other colours like brindle I'd guess are more likely to come from French bulldog, although that breed has also been tampered with to produce the much prized and horrendously expensive blue colour

The dogs in that picture are really cute, but if you look, neither one of them has a Pug nose.....doesn't mean they aren't great pets--probably just not pure Pugs......

Yes... I was just wondering if it matched what OP was talking about and if anyone knew what would be the other breed responsible for the color differences.

Yes, the one on the left exactly matches the ones in the photos I've seen :) Cute. Didn't think they were 100% pedigree. Still baffles me how they can be sold with papers but I guess the KC can't check all the pups history. I don't know. Something I need to read up on I guess, it does interest me! :)
