Default Hopefully the answer to the tail tucked trembling pug!!Kinda long.

Knowing I had a vet appt this evening and that every single thing that could be checked based on his symptoms had been checked already, I got a poop sample and dropped it at the vet on my way to work this morn. When I got there, they had my file, with Meds attached! I was like, Meds??? Then there must be something. Are you ready for this, Canine Coccidiosis, a parasite not covered by the flea/tick/hearworm regime we are on, nor is there any preventitive measure. Have not read up on it yet, but symptoms are usually diarrhea, vomiting along with the other symptoms Petey was having, although he never had diarrhea or vomiting (90 days ago when we had a similar event for 4 days, he did have explosive diarreah at the end)

He got his first dose of a syringe of antibiotic with another dose and sample in two weeks to be sure issue is gone. Now the hand out I got said this parasite comes from feces of infected dog (my other dog does not have it as far as I know) or dead mice or mice poop. My vet said all it would take would be him licking his feet if he had picked up something. We do walk in a forever wild area so perhaps???? Need to read and understand better.

So here is hoping with all my heart this is it! I guess alot of dogs can harbor this with no bad outcome, just passes out. So will let everyone know if things are much better in a day or two.

As I always say, this is fountain of information and I always learn so much!!

Coccidia and Giardia are common causes of diarrhea.

Some dogs can be asymptomatic carriers of it, so if his other symptoms don't clear up after the mads, I would continue looking for other causes.

    Take care,

Keeping my fingers crossed that you have found the answer and that this too (like the coccidia) will pass!

Glad you found out what it was! Winston got sick a few years back with bacteria from drinking out of a puddle at the dog park. Funny thing is that since he got sick, he won't drink anything at the dog park, not even if I bring bottled water, lol.
