Right Side near Ear Hurts - vets dont have an answer! Help please!

Sometimes one ear is more sensitive than the other. Sienna's one ear gets dirtier and more wax than the other. But I agree with CountryPug. I'd get another opinion.

The only problem is I have received multiple opinions. I am going to take him to an allergist to eliminate that possibility as well. I'm trying to be practical but also persistent. I know that stopping to scratch while on lead or 'air scratching', head shaking and licking at paws could be symptoms of Syringomyelia and since it is a degenerative disease, the longer I was to get an MRI, the greater the chances of being unable to treat. I was strongly advised to eliminate all other possibilities first so I will be making an appt with the allergist and see what he/she has to say. I'll let you all know how it goes!

Fred only had one ear that was affected as well at first, what I forgot to tell you was that when he got the ear infection the second time it was in the other ear. I asked the vet the same thing, why does it seem to be only the one ear if it's a allergy? she said that it was from yeast build up from either airborne allergies or food allergies. She told me that he was to be on his "kangaroo" food for 3 months before I would start seeing any signs of it getting better( if it's an food allergy) if not than he would have to be put on allergy medicine for the rest of his life.

Just today I noticed he is not itching as much and his ears have got back to their normal pale pinky colour.

Has the vet checked beans ears for wax or yeast build up? sometimes they get build up you can't see that is deep down or stuck in crevices and it makes them itchy to no end. Just today I checked Fred's ear and it looked clean but I got the flash light out any ways and I got cleaning out a crevice that I THOUGHT was clean and pulled a huge chunk of wax with hair stuck in it out of the crevice in his left ear and as soon as I took it out it was instant relief!

I've also been cleaning his ear's out with ear cleaner every two days and it seems to be working as well so that any yeast that might build up get's cleaned out so another infection doesn't start.

I tried to post a few days ago and I guess my whole post is lost so I'm getting kinda frustrated and will keep this short (also in case my post is actually out there somehwere and I can't find it ha).

If you look into my last posts I have thought that Beans has Synringomyelia. So I decided to bring him to some specialists

NEUROLOGIST
Beans' neurology exam came back normal and I told to eliminate dermatological explanations before going along with an MRI. Although Syringomyelia is not common in pugs it is certainly possible. Her concern was that his whole body is one big ball of stenosis and she wasn't able to see down into the ear canal. SO to the dermatologist we went....

DERMATOLOGIST
Beans' dermatological exam came back NORMAL. The dermatologist did not even think it was necessary to do any skin testing for allergies or anything dermatological related because although he has a lot of yeast in his nose and ears, both his nose and ears are not infected and his culture for the yeast testing in his ears came back negative for mites or any sort of infection. He thinks that Beans' sensitivity to his right side which is now starting to move over to his left is suggestive of something neurological.

ALL IN ALL::::: the DERMATOLOGIST STRONGLY SUGGESTED an MRI

I thought this is very important information to share with everyone out there who is having or has had the same symptoms with their little puggy. I now need to call care credit to see how I can afford this MRI as I am still paying off his loan for his brachycephalic surgery. I am very hesitant to the MRI because of the anesthesia.

I don't have any advice, but I wanted to say that I am so sorry that you're going through all this. I hope you get some good results, some answers, some help with care credit, etc. Keeping you and Bean in my thoughts and prayers. Please so keep us posted.
