Default 22-Pound Pug. Is this large?

We don't know exactly how old Stewie is, since he was a rescue. However, the shelter vets estimate he is two years old. He currently weighs 22 pounds. From what I've read about pugs, this seems big. However, Stewie seems very lean to me. (BTW, this photo was taken before we adopted him. Stewie does NOT wear a collar!)

Pug experts, what do you think?

I have a 2 yr old female who is 18 lbs and in no way is overweight. He looks slim to me. Don't go by the weight scale of what "experts" say, every Pug is different.

No, that's a good weight, depending on body frame I guess. My guy is almost 30 lbs.

Go by what you can see and feel rather than the number on the scales. My rufus weighs 21lb and is in great shape. ...if he weighed the 16lb those charts suggest is his ideal he would be very underweight

You shouldn't to by weight charts. When you look down on him, from over the top of him while he is standing up, and you can see a waist indent after his rib cage, he is not overweight. He looks fine to me even at the angle that picture was taken. Thank you so much for rescuing and not shopping for a puppy. I think that's wonderful.
