Default My pug will not go to the bathroom

My pug is 6 years old and we adopted her back in June. We just had our first snowstorm Saturday morning and she WILL NOT go outside for more than a minute before she starts shivering and not moving. As a result she has not gone to the bathroom since Friday night. We've tried everything we can think of. We've got her a coat, booties (which she refuses to wear). We've tried carrying her to her normal spot, we've cleared a patch of grass, we've tried taking her on cement etc etc. We've laid out pee pads in our home...nothing. We've tried taking her out for a few mins, bringing her back in on leash to warm up then back out...nothing is working.

We are stressed out and not sure how to proceed at this point? Any suggestions?

Hello & to the village! Has she not peed since then? You can stimulate her to poop by slightly inserting a thermometer into her rectum. If she hasn't been peeing I'd be off to the vets ASAP. Please update us when you can. Others who live in colder climates than I do can give you tips on how they get their pugs to go potty in the cold.

are you SURE she hasn't gone??

check under the beds, in the closets (if they were left open) and in any litter boxes you might have,,,,,,,

unless something is seriously wrong,,,,,,,she has gone. SOMEWHERE.

I would be stressed out and worried as well. As mentioned above, check everywhere for wet spots, she may have hid somewhere to go. Otherwise, she may need a vet visit.... not pooping for that long is a concern, but not urinating is a much bigger concern.
You've tried most of the things I would have suggested (clearing a spot, bundling her up, pads inside, etc) so the only thing I would add is to maybe try spreading down some hay/straw over the cleared patch. That might do the trick. The thermometer trick mentioned above might help with pooping and maybe once she does that she will let the urine go as well.
Please update us when you can. I hope she will be ok.

Well we've taken her to the vet and they're going to keep her for the day for observation. The vet didn't seem to think there was anything to get concerned about but that she's probably stressed and hates the cold. If that's the case we'll probably have to train her to pee on pads or get a doggy litter. She reminded us that when we first brought her home, it took her some time to establish a regular bathroom plan.

We've looked through our house and there's no sign of any puddles or other surprises. We have hard wood and we keep her downstairs at night so there are very few places she could have gone.

My Nikki held for 33 hrs or more....I had put a sweater on her...and clothes were to wear..not to dirty with going potty!!!! I was set to take her to the vet and she scooted outside without and peed a lake!

    Hope that it's just stubbornness!!!

my pugs hate the cold and snow as well. I spread straw over my concrete patio and they use that. The patio has a roof so they are sort of protected from the rain, etc.

I do the same!!! In the afternoon when sun is out..they have the option of the yard! Supposed to all melt...can you say MUD!!! Will close off for that! Supposedly followed by 1-2 ft of snow!
