    Default Acorns Again

Snafu eats all kinds of non-food stuff, and it's a constant battle with her to keep acorns out of her mouth. If you don't believe your pugs talk to each other, well, they do. Apparently Snafu told Jabaar acorns were tasty, and yesterday I caught him chowing down on too many of them. I've had Jabaar three years, and this has never been a problem for him.

Jabaar was up last night at 2:30 AM and again at 4:30 AM, vomiting. He sleeps on my bed, and at 2:30, I quickly placed him on the floor, where he either fainted or had a brief seizure. When everyone got up at 6:30, Jabaar seemed OK, and he demanded breakfast. While he complained, I quickly boiled him some sticky, white rice.

Neither dog has a blockage. They both had large poops this morning. But now I have to take BOTH dogs out on a leash instead of just opening the back door. One pulls me and the other drags behind. This whole scenario stinks! The entire neighborhood is paved in acorns this year. I can't avoid them, even in the middle of the paved street.

I am about to buy muzzles.

so sorry for this funny picture you paint...any way to put an expen around the back door and keep the space it allows them into "swept" of the tasty morsels (which in my house are spelled b-o-w-e-l m-o-v-e-m-e-n-t)?

Good luck Penny loves pistachio shells. Someone else must as well as one area always has them. We avoid it. I can't imagine how hard that is

Don't apologize for thinking this is funny. If I didn't keep my sense of humor about this, I'd go crazy.

Send them to me! I use acorns as decorative bowl and vase fillers!

My Penny eats acorns, she will actually eat anything outside. Acorns are literally the least of my worries with her. The most common phrase heard around my house is "PENNY, WHAT ARE YOU EATING???"

I like the idea of a raked, 'clean' penned patch of lawn. Muzzles should work too.

Lisa if you like buckeye, next year I can send you a bunch! I threw away a ton.

I've not had too many acorns, we've got squirrel herds. Maple helicopters are our big problem here.

this is our first full year in Tx, we used to spend winters here, and summers in Canada. Bought a beautiful 25 acres, built a 6 ft fence around 2 acres, and have 100s of wonderful oak trees. And MILLIONS of acorns. Have 10 pugs, only one has decided to devour those darn acorns...

I too was thinking of a muzzle, there is just no way to clean up the darn things until they stop dropping off. My entire time outside is filled with "Winston drop that"...he actually shells them, then started eating the acorn itself, poop looked like a nutty chocolate bar. UGH Never digested them at all, but after looking it up and finding how hard they are on the kidneys, I am worried that he will eat even one more. Did I mention that Winston is STUBBORN?
