Default Please help me I am scared !

Hello everyone, I've come here desperate and in need of your advice. My pug has been developing this weird black dots on her skin. Also there has been some bigger one where hair has been lost. I am from Switzerland, I tooked my dog to the vet last Monday and said that this parasite bit her and caused an allergic reaction, so he inyected her with something to kill further parasites. Also he said that in the week she would be cured but I see her worse. You could look at the pictures and please give your opinions. I want my dog to be fine again please she is my loyal companion everyday it hurts me to see her like that.

I would appreciate everything you can tell me.

Welcome to the village, I'm sorry it's under these circumstances. Did they do a skin scraping when you took her to the vet's? Sounds like you think she's worse, take her back or seek a second opinion. Trust your gut, you know her better than anyone. Request a skin scraping this time and please let us know what you find out.

No, they didn't do the skin scraping. Tomorrow i'll have to see him again to see what he tells me. I just uploaded the pictures for everyone to have a look.

What parasites did they tell you ?
How old is your pug ?
What did they give her and on what flea prevention is she on ?
Anything else happening in your pugs live .

To me it looks like mites . Could be demodex.
Ask the vet all questions you have. You pay them !
I sometimes even call back or e-mail my vet with questions I could not think about at the office. It is important to have a trusted vet.

To me it looks more like a yeast infection - possibly connected to food allergy. In any case your vet should really take a skin scraping to look for evidence of mites and to send a sample off to the laboratory to test for a possible yeast infection.

Please don’t be afraid to seek a second opinion from a different vet if you don’t feel confident with this one - some have more experience in treating skin conditions than others.

Please let us know how you get on.

You've been given some good suggestions!!!

Demodex is easily treated! Usually a teenager or puppy kind of thing That's one of the parasites that can be found with a scraping.

Yeast is also treatable as is thryoid (make sure they do a T3 and T4 test)......staph or other bacteria can be treated with antibiotics.

My Solo had spots and was losing hair. Vet would put him on Baytril (antibiotic) and it would go away. As soon as off meds...it returned! Went to specialist. Put him on baytril for 2 months and I had to give a weekly bath. It never came back again!

    See you finding answers!

to PugVillage. I agree with a second opinion and a skin scraping.

Great advice above. I hope your vet has more answers and information for you when you go in for the re-check.
