Bloody Discharge/Diarrhea

Disclaimer: This is kind of gross and detailed.

For the past week or so Romeo has had diarrhea that has had a little bit of blood in it, sometimes after he poops he'll walk around and squat again and squeeze just a bit of bloody/mucus-y discharge out. At first my husband and I weren't worried because every now and then this happens for a bit and then stops (the first time it turned out it wasn't blood, but red feathers from a toy he'd chewed up) but it's been a full week and it isn't letting up at all.

My husband is taking him to the vet today to get him checked out. I let him chase an empty 2-liter around the apartment last week because he was having so much fun with it but since the diarrhea started we're worried that he might've swallowed a piece of plastic and it's stuck in his intestines or something. Other than literally having blood diarrhea, he doesn't seem any different than he normally is.

Has this ever happened to anyone else, the bloody diarrhea? If so, what was the cause and how did you fix it?

Sorry to hear that Romeo isn’t feeling so good. As his symptoms can arise from various things you can only really be guided by a veterinary examination. Hoping he’s feeling much better soon - please let us know how he’s doing!

Sorry to hear about Romeo's diarrhea. I hope the vet can give you some answers and that there is a simple treatment to help him.

Could just be gastric upset!!!! Seeing it being a simple fix!

Prayers it's nothing serious.

So, my husband had to drop him off and leave for a few hours (because he has school and I'm at work) and the vet would stop in and check out Romeo when he had time, and if anything serious developed they'd call us right away. All day we've been obsessively checking our phones to see if the clinic had called and we'd missed it, even though we've had our phones by our sides all day.

Turns out my husband and I are major worriers, everything is fine! The vet said he probably has 'colitis' because I've been letting him tear up our moving boxes and chew on the soda bottles, but that it'll self-resolve in a few days. The vet also said that Romeo is the healthiest pug he's ever seen (yay!) and the ENTIRE clinic staff came in to play with him at some point during the day because he was so energetic and goofy.

All-in-all we're super relieved everything is going to be fine, and Romeo had a great day making new friends. Also, I solemnly swear that even though it's funny to watch him bat soda bottles all over the floor, I will not let him play with them anymore!

What a relieve .
Mine have the vet can‘t resist personalities . Especially Bruno .
They do make dog toys which crinkle like bottles lol .
