Default Back From Vet with Heidi....

This morning Heidi had some kind of episode which reminded me of all the vestibular problems we had with first Pug, Tawny. It came on suddenly & she was very uncoordinated, kept circling to the left & falling over. She looked like she couldn't focus & didn't know what was going on. She was drooling a lot & pooped a little one on the floor. I called my vet (bless her heart--she doesn't do Sat hours anymore, except for emergencies). She said she'd meet me at her clinic, so I took Heidi over as quick as I could. Vet said it could be inner ear but there is no way to tell for sure unless you do MRI, which she doesn't have. That would mean a trip to WSU. She said she usually treats like it is an inner ear infection, starting with antibiotics & sometimes steroids. She said it could have been some type of seizure. Heidi was doing better at the vet's, & was walking much more normally there. She is doing o.k now that we are home, but I can tell not completely back to normal, as it sounds like she is scuffing her feet more when she walks, & she threw up a small amount of her food about half an hour ago. Vet sent me home with some antibiotics, & said since Heidi is doing better, to hold off giving them to her unless she has another episode over the weekend. If she does, I'm to start the antibiotics & then vet would do bloodwork on Mon. I hope it wasn't a seizure, but I also hope that if it is an inner ear or vestibular problem, that Heidi gets over it completely & we don't go down the depressing road we did with Tawny. Except for frequent bladder infections, Heidi has been healthy so far!

    Oh no! Poor Heidi!

Hoping it is just an ear infection and she’s better soon!

I'm so sorry you and Heidi are going through this. I will be praying that it was a one-time occurrence and that Heidi will recover completely.

I've seen pugs with Vestibular...so heartbreaking. I'm praying that Heidi does not have this and what she does have is nothing serious. Please keep us posted.
