hi, i have a puggie named biscuit(long story). So basically he's 7 years old. So recently I've noticed this black junk in his ear, and it's just not on the outside, it goes deep inside. And it's chunky, for a week or two he's been scratching it so idk if it's dried up blood. Anyway this Saturday I'll be taking him to my usual vet, just wanted some advice from expert pug owners🤣. Kindly help me out please. Thank u for ur time. Have a lovely day/evening/night

He probably has an infection. They will give you ear meds and possibly oral meds ...the kind depends on whether it's bacterial or yeast.

I agree, treatment is called for.. and your pug probably won't enjoy the in ear work.. so treat him for participating... once it's cleared up, I keep an eye on the ears regularly and gently swab them with a clean cotton ball (one ball each ear, unless it comes out dirty in which case use another clean one)... sometimes dampened with a little water.
If you do it regularly, it won't sneak up on you and him like this did... and he will grow to like the touch and the little treat after!

I use K9 Ear solution to clean my guys ears out. It also has a drying feature. You don't want to put water in the ears as moisture causes yeast.

Hi and welcome to PugVillage!
I'm glad you have already scheduled an appointment with the vet. It seems very likely that it's an infection of some sort causing the black junk. Your vet will give you medicine to use and they can demonstrate and instruct you on how to clean Biscuit's ears so this hopefully won't happen again.
I hope it clears up quickly and Biscuit feels much better soon.

Hello and to PugVillage. Glad you have joined us. It is also possible that Biscuit has ear mites. Glad you have a Vet appointment so you can get a proper diagnosis and a treatment plan. Please let us know what you find out.

Hi and I agree with the above. One get baths every 1-2 weeks and I always make sure to use ear cleaner (Vets Best) that also dries every time and it keeps their ears clean and healthy.

Yes I was asking too if he is on some kind of flea protective which also covers ear mites . It could possible be an infection caused by mites .
