Darwin was so brave - he had his stitches taken out without any sedation and the ulcer is healed! The doctor was ecstatic saying “I’m always so thrilled to see such a brilliant outcome like this!”
He also said that whilst he could prescribe drops that more quickly clear the blue clouding, he thinks Mother Nature is a better healer and best to allow a natural healing process wherever possible. I agree with this sentiment. So we just have to continue with the Meloxaid and chloramphenicol for another week now and all should be well.
I also know for certain now that poking Darwin in the eye with cotton buds was completely the wrong treatment for him and made his ulcer far worse!! Apparently debridement must NOT be carried out on the type of ulcer that Darwin had as it just further destroys the surface of the eye. In future he has told me to contact him directly for advice should Darwin get another ulcer.
So I really would urge anyone now, to ensure that they only permit an experienced eye specialist to do this cotton bud poking treatment that is so much in vogue now. Darwin could have lost his eye as a result of this if this amazing doctor hadn’t stepped in to fix it!

Sounds like great news. I'm so glad the doctor is pleased.... I have to say though, it still looks pretty scary in that picture! Sending best wishes for continued progress and speedy healing!!! Give that brave boy a cuddle from me and tell him he is so special and handsome.

Great news! When debridement was brought up to me, my hubby and I discussed and had several questions before that would be done-and I agree only a specialist needs to be doing that type of treatment! So glad healing is underway!!
Great update! Glad his eye is doing so well!
