    Default hayfever tablets

Has anyone ever given there dogs a hayfever tablet?

I was told they can be used if your dog shows symptoms of hayfever...Over the weekend my poor wee pug has had really sticky eyes and has had a bad casde of reverse sneezing which he has never had.... I gave him half a tablet and within a couple of hours he was better no gungy eyes or anything! Amazing...

Snifter has just been given Tavegil which is a human antihistamine that the vet says is safe for dogs.

I would be careful about giving any old hayfever tablet and check with the vet first which are safe.

I'm glad the tablet worked for your baby but I would just check with the vet sooner rather than later that what you used is OK to use if you think you will need it on a more regular basis.

I haven't seen Snifter scratch himself once since starting the Tavegil - we are trying it because he is getting hotspots.

Yeah the reverse sneezing is freaky. When Yoda first did it, I thought he was dying hahaha. Came straight to the forum and searched it....phew. Luckily its normal. He hasn't done it in ages actually. When they do reverse sneeze...a nice way to help your baby is to rub his throat and speak calmly to him, and can even block his nose so that he'll breathe through his mouth. I do this, and works a charm !

In dogs? I haven't found anything about that - have you somewhere you can direct me to to check it out?

I have heard Piriton is fine for dogs.

I agree the reverse sneezing is very scary when you first come across it.
