is this a pug mix?

Hi everyone! I'm new here, with my 5 year old rescue pug, Captain.
After looking up other pugs on the internet, the Captain looks like he might have some other breed mixed in. His forehead is not as wrinkly as other pugs, he has a ruff of long fur around his neck, and he's kind of long and lean. Everything else is definitely pug-like, though!

This was the day we brought him home, you can sort of see the long-hair ruff around his neck (and he was pretty skinny :( )

To me he looks like he probably has something else mixed in there, but I have no idea what! He is cute!

This looks like a Pug Chihuahua mix to me.

I can't be positive, but it certainly doesn't look purebred.

He definitely looks like a mix...not necessarily saying his parents weren't both pugs because they very well could be but it could be somewhere in the family tree. Looks like some kind of terrier.

The tilt of the muzzle reminds me of a Peke mix.. he sure is a cutie though!!

It does look mixed... my captain is long-legged and lean, and his nose is a longer than other pug lines. Hi is "pure" and his papers lead back to a midwest puppy mill where the dogs do run bigger (taller)... I keep mine lean, and he is happy and yours looks to be too! Enjoy!
