Who here has either forgotten to pick up their pug's poop or purposely didn't pick it up.
This is a big issue in my apartment complex and I'm just curious to hear what people say.
While I can't recall any time when I didn't pick up after Bunk, I do occasionally toss his poop back towards the community garbage instead of taking it to the garbage and putting it in myself (I only do this at night because the garbage bin is in surrounded by grass and I'm afraid of stepping on poop).
OK pug people, let's have it!
We're in a neighborhood that we pick up poop, in fact I have "poop" bags. Not everyone does of course, in fact it's the owners of the big dogs that are the worse offenders.

I live in an apartment complex and MOST people pick up their dogs poop. There is 1 person with a big dog that doesn't and we are all trying to figure out who it is so they can be reported to the office. I absolutely despise the people that don't. When you have your own yard- let the poop sit there for eternity for all I care- but when you share grounds with other people- be courteous! It is so disgusting. No one likes to step in poop, so why leave your dogs poop out for yourself and others to step on.
Thats my 2 cents. Very bitter topic here.

I live in a neigbourhood with a lot of dogs. I agree that is seems to be the people with the big dogs that pick up the least, followed by the teenagers (who seem to mostly have pitbulls and boxers and such, so again, big poop), although there is at least one little dog that leaves presents that aren't collected....
We have stopped using the local dog run because it is so disgusting. I don't get why people don't pick up in an enclosed sandy space like that... it's so easy.... Why do people not care if their dog is playing in their own filth, let alone that of other dogs'?
As for the footpath, the city mows a 4 or 5 foot swath on either side, and beyond that is bush-hogged 3 or 4 times a year. My policy is I pick up everything on the short grass, and everything that I can reach in the long grass without wading in, or that is within easy wading distance that is supported by the grass and hasn't disappeared underneath. Most people only pick up what is within a foot of the path, whether it is in the short or long grass. It's disgusting.
Of course in the winter we have lots of snow and I still pick up, although many people adopt the 'out of sight out of mind' approach and leave it for the snow to cover up. Which is fine till spring, when it all melts. What do people THINK happens to it under there?

I always keep a poop bag in my purse (empty one of coarse:) or my pocket when the dogs are with me. I try to always be prepared when it comes to my dogs and there really isn't any excuse not to pick up after them.
I try to clean up my own yard everyday, unless I'm busy and then it still gets done at least every other day. A neighbor where we used to live, never picked up their yard and half of it was completely covered with piles of poop. You would have to see it to believe it....too many piles of poop to count

We have what is probably the stupidest city in the world. In the colder months, they would rather not pay people to drive the truck all around the park (mind you, it's a perimeter of maybe 2 miles) and they haul all the wheeled garbage hoppers into shed, except one. If you're lucky enough to park even remotely close to that single hopper, it's generally completely full. Usually however, it's simply miles out of the way and although people appear to have good intentions by picking up the poop in bags, they generally will also throw it into a single pile (basically where the hopper would be in the warmer months). Our choices at the park are therefore to take bags of dog crap in the car and hope to god there's no hole or throw it in a neat pile that is obvious, even from afar. Alas, the pile never gets picked up. The lovely city supervisors would much rather leave it to rot with snow after snow. Wouldn't it be easier to simply put just ONE MORE hopper across from the single one they put out? Clearly, people aren't trying to be pigs, but there is a level of ridiculousness to not putting at least two hoppers out.
Leaving poo in the yard is not good, it will make it's way to the local waterways. Putting it in the trash leads to poop filled landfills and the bacteria in the poo doesn't stay in the landfill. And not picking up poop can be traced back to the dog: Dog Dna Baltimore | DNA could solve a doggie whodunit - Baltimore Sun
So, what to do? Best answer I've seen is composting. But I'm not a composter :( At least if throwing in trash use the biodegradable poop bags.
There are a number of apartment and condo complexes that provide poop stations where there are bags and a mini-can that is emptied regularly. They are like this: DOGIPOT® Pet Waste Disposal Station with Steel Waste Receptacle and Biodegradable Litter Bags | Pet Products | Belson Outdoors
I live in a rural area on my own property. When we walk the dogs along the walking trail, they are pretty good about pooping off in the brush. I leave it to "compost" naturally. If they poop on the walking trail, I take a stick and flick it off into the woods. In our yard, we leave it for a while and then I do poop patrol with a bucket and poop scoop. Our yard is really big and the dogs are pretty good about not pooping in the main walking areas so I can kinda let the dry out a bit. The "prizes" are dumped out in the woods. When we travel, I use poop bags and I am very very careful to collect each "prize" and discard it in a waste can. I have a large dog and there is nothing more disgusting than picking up a large warm pile of poop with only a thin piece of plastic between the "prize" and your hand. I have gagged many a time. But you gotta do what you gotta do do. I don't want to be the one who left the poo that ended up on YOUR shoe!

I carry poop bags with me everywhere I go. Even though our apartment complex supplies them, I still carry them with me just in case Bunk poops twice during a walk. There have even been times when Bunk pooped when I didn't bags and I walked all of the way back to our apartment to get them and back to clean up.
Our complex has gotten better about warning people who don't clean up their poop, but there are still areas that are covered in it. I don't understand why people don't do it...
I hate seeing dog poop everywhere so I always pick up Buddy's poop. I have a little bag holder that clips onto his leash so we never forget to bring bags. Around our neighbourhood it seems to be the big dog poops that are left behind and it's GROSS!
