We've had Venus for 2 months today (February 6th) we got her December 6th and like I said she was an early Xmas present to me. Here's to many more months (and years!) with her!
I remember when we first brought Sienna home. I was the one who carried her out and cradled her on the car ride home. It must have been quite scary for her leaving a place she was familiar with, but we fawned all over her...talked with her and petted her all the way home. We took her into the house. I felt sorry for her...insecure, tail between her legs. We immediately treated her like family and there wasn't anywhere in the house she couldn't go. She had 5 felt blankets around various rooms to keep her warm and two dog beds in the house. Everything we got for her was brand new. I doubt she'd ever had anything that was her very own before. The first night, she started out in her crate and whined, so I brought her dogbed in with me in my bedroom and she didn't seem to like being in the dogbed, so I invited her up with me (while growing up, dogs weren't allowed to sleep with us in the bed). Not even a night and she owned the big bed and the love seat quickly became hers, too...actually, she shares both with me. I get a corner of each and she gets most of it. :)
I'm sure all of you know how much of a big bed a small 20lb pug can take up.
BTW, it wasn't long and she had confidence and the tail was up wagging. :)
So that was day 1. Okay, VenusMommy. What was day 1 like for Venus coming to your home? Anyone else remember what it was like the day your furkid came to your home?
and I petted her for a little bit and then did the paperwork. I picked her up and held her to pose for a picture, and then we took the hour or so ride home. I held her on my lap the whole time. She looked so cute and small in her sweater! I wonder if it still fits? We'll have to try and put it on her again sometime soon! We had a bed set up for her right next to our bed, which she went into right away. She didn't cry or whine in the night at all! We don't believe in using crates. :)

Ray has since crossed the bridge but stays forever in my heart. I love you, Boo Boo. Oscar Wilde Thang has joined the family.
