Default Rush question - Tunafish and pugs

Is it safe for dogs? I am feeding the baby and a lot is hitting the floor. I don't eat it myself and I'm paranoid about it. Any advise is appreciated. Poor Java is stuck on the other side of the gate until I hear!!!

I don't think the small amount the baby throws on the floor is going to hurt her but I wouldn't let her have alot. Tuna has alot of mercury in it.

I sometimes put a little tuna fish atop the kibble and the dogs love it. I've never heard of any ill effects from it (but of course, as with all human food, you probably don't want to over do it....)

    THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!!

I don't plan on serving it much, but I'm trying really hard not to impart my food issues on the baby. Should I not serve it at all with the mercury?

Tuna does have a lot of mercury in it. I personally don't know about it's safety for babies. Obviously plenty of people eat it on a regular basis and are fine but it's not something I would eat daily.

OK, what is wrong with this picture??. You are feeding the baby tunafish that you won't eat yourself and are afraid to feed the pug, who probably weighs about what the pug weighs??

    My question exactly, Maryjo!

    Here's some info:

And more that comes down much harder on canned tuna:

It's up in the air. I probably wouldn't feed much to my baby or pug.

I don't like avocados either, but I'm not going to avoid serving it to the baby because of it. I don't want to setup this poor kid with my eating abnormalities.

Onions aren't safe for dogs, nor is garlic, but I serve that to myself and the baby. So my question about Java and the baby is legit - they can't always eat the same foods. I'm sorry if I am a bit defensive, but I think that my question was very reasonable since some human food is not safe for dog consumption.

I never considered the Mercury situation because I just hate tuna - I don't pay much attention when I see stories about it.

Oh Jeannette, I was totally just kidding! We're all so fanatic... I just thought it was funny (and typical for any of us) that you were most worried if it was okay for Java. When you said you were paranoid about it, I assumed you were talking about the mercury issue.

I'm sure the amount that both wee ones got is fine. You can get really crazy over what to feed and what not to feed.
