Dotty has gone in today for soft palate surgery
I took her to the specialist at 10am this morning. They will call with a update a couple hours after surgery. He said that she is high risk for a anaesthetic because of her breed and her breathing. I went in feeling brave for her and myself until he said there is a chance she won't wake up : ( all be it a small chance, around 5% but that set me of : (

Thinking positive thoughts for Dotty. She will most likely do fine, and have a far better quality (and length!) of life. Make sure you ask about steroid (prednisone pills) postop to minimize swelling, keep her very quiet (crate rest or your lap or supervised in bed), cool, and feed only soft food for at least a week and often several to give her the best chance of fast healing.
