    Default Grazed nose

    Hi everyone,

Poppy got over-excited coming home the other day and jumped from the car (quite a height for those little legs) and grazed her nose on the side of the curb, poor girl.

It looked to be healing nicely until today.

The scab has come away and she has a big pink patch by her black nose.

She seems fine in herself. Full of energy as always :)

should I be worried? I've seen a lot of posts on the net that say a small graze should be left to heal naturally. But I don't want her to fall ill of course!

I'm pretty new to the dog ownership!!!

I think I would just watch it & make sure it looks like it's getting better, not worse. She isn't scratching at it, is she?

    No she isn't scratching.

She licks her nose a lot as you would expect. Because the graxe is right above her mouth, she tends to lick it more.

That being said, I checked this morning and it looks to be on the mend. It's healed over but it still looks very pink... considering it's on her black nose it really stands out. :(

As long as the skin looks good & seems to be healing well, I'd keep an eye on it & just ask the vet about it next time I see her, but my vet is a friend also, & I see her all the time because she is a voluntary treasurer at the cancer foundation I work at. If it bothers you, you could call your vet & ask about it, or make an appointment, or just ask the vet if the black pigment will ever come back next time you have your Pug in.

When we had Heidi's nostrils enlarged, it was very pink inside her nose, too, but gradually over time it seems like it turned black again.
