    welcome aboard.

He looks quite puggie to me... there IS a range of traits which pugs display.. and tails sometimes don't curl for a bit.. sometimes double curl... hang in there, he's doing a lot of adapting!

I'm beginning to think he is younger than what the people told me. From pics of other pugs I've seen he looks more like 4 weeks old. He came with shot records and papers but I don't think it's adding up.

Did the vet tell you something about his age? He might just be a small puppy. With 4 weeks they might still needing milk? Not sure about that so. Did you see the parents and siblings? I am very realistic and sometimes I see things very logical. If you are not sure and have doubts perhaps you need to go back to the breeder and ask for more details and if you canít get the right answers return your guy. Some states have laws about the age of puppies sold. A dog is suppose to be in your live for 10 to 15 years . Some breeders are scammers and you could possible end up with a dog with health , temperament and genetic issues. Not saying this will happen. Of course most sale contracts wonít let you return a puppy unless for medical reasons. You might loose some or all of the $ paid. But the loss might be minimal compare to living with a dog you are always doubting about and regret you purchased. I probably do not share this opinion with many of the people here and it sounds cruel and this is an opinion not advice. And of course many times we let our emotions speak. In any case I suggest to get health and accident insurance on any puppy .

The vet told us just to wait for his second set of shots to come in but I'm going to call today and try to get him in. I don't regret getting him I could of easily walked away when I met the people I'm just expressing my concerns about things and getting input from people that know pugs.

He's so cute. He's not as chubby as most pups, but that's not necessarily a problem. It is possible that there is a bit of a mix in there (maybe chihuahua) but equally he could be 100% pug, just maybe not bred with much of an eye to breed standard. It's hard to tell at that age. The look of the parents is a guide to how he will probably turn out in the long run. That said, my Toddy was a textbook perfect pup (looks-wise), immaculately bred, with show quality parents, but he turned out unshowable in the end. So you can never tell 100%.

I'd be surprised if he was much younger than 8 weeks. He's certainly older than 4 weeks in my opinion.

Thanks the vet thinks he's a pug too. Said he wasn't sure about his age and that we need to keep an eye on what he eats. If he doesn't start gaining weight we will have to take him back to the vet for some test.

With Lolli, our new pup the vet has us feeding her 4-5 times a day to help ensure her blood sugar doesn't drop, especially since she is a very energetic pup. Not sure what your feeding or your schedule is like, but Lolli's breeder had her on Royal Canin wet, 1/4 can twice a day, with a tsp of plain yogurt twice a day and a small handful of Royal Canin puppy mixed in along with a little goats milk. Then for the other two mid day feedings we just put out dry food and let her eat as much as she wants, some days she eats everything and others she leaves some behind. Our vet said she didn't need the goats milk anymore but to keep up the feeding schedule until she gets a little bigger. Not saying this is what you need to do for your pup but just giving you an idea of what our pup is on, she is 10 weeks and 4.3 lbs. If he's a little underweight you probably should make sure he's not going to long between feedings just to avoid blood sugar drops.
