I live in Washington state and I was woken up by the early morning earthquakes. I thought it was my annoying upstairs neighbors at first and since Rocky was on his back snoring (chainsawing) away I didn't think anything of it. Didn't realize what it was until I watched the news. I thought dogs could sense impending earthquakes? All my coworkers talked about how they were all woken up by their dogs either barking like crazy or running and jumping into their beds before the quakes started. Does your pugs sense them or anything mother nature related?

I suppose it varies in dogs, just like how some humans can apparently sense earthquakes or an impending tornado. Maybe Rocky sensed it, but didn't feel it was important enough to skip out on his beauty sleep.

Aggie and Tucker would sense an earthquake when we lived in LA and I too seem to feel even small ones. My hometown is Ridgecrest CA where they just had the 6.4 and 7.1 the 4th and 5th of July and my niece has a pug and a Lab and I can tell you she said the pug has been a mess ever since (who wouldn’t be) granted they have had more than a thousand aftershocks since anywhere from low 2’s up to mid 4’s so the ground is still shaking so he obviously reacts to them. My 93 yo mother who lives there has never felt any of the earthquakes we had previously but she did feel these last two.

My pug never seems concerned over bad weather except when she sees me getting worried...and she hears the weather radio alarm. If that goes off, its scares her like she will jump up out of a dead sleep tail tucked etc.
We don't really have earthquakes here....We have had small ones in the past but like I said, not very often at all. I think I only remember 1 in my life time.

I agree with Amy ...not important enough to interrupt sweet slumber and snack dreams especially if you Pug sleeps with you ...

The only earthquake that we experienced here, neither of the Pugds registered it at all. They didn't even look up. This was with "Sugar " Ray. I'm sure that Oscar would completely freak out, lol.
