Notice from my vet today about doors being kept locked.. and calling from our cars when we arrive... to get the wait time and to get a call when there's a cleaned room available.

I respect them wanting to be safe... but I will be a little uneasy if they don't let me in there with the dogs... which they did NOT say was necessarily the situation... yet, of course... my wee muzzled min pin will not be a happy camper without me there! But he and the others WILL survive... as will I.

Well all schools including mine are closing on Friday. I’m feeling so sad this evening as I think it unlikely that they will all return to the UK after all this is over and there’s been no opportunity to even say goodbye to most of them as they disappeared off trying to get home before the borders to their own countries were closed.

Sad indeed. There will be a "lostness" for many students of this year... even medical students are being banned from hospitals right now.

Very sad that you didn't get to say goodbyes. I hope they all make it home safely.

Hubby and I were just talking about Schools and students this evening... a lot of schools are now suggesting that they may not re-open before the end of the school year in June. What happens to the seniors that are supposed to graduate this year? And how sad that they have no Prom or other traditions to enjoy and remember from their final year of high school.
A lot of parents in our community seem to be doing a really good job of stepping up and home-schooling their kids during the shutdown. They are sharing lesson plans online and using online resources to keep their kids actively learning. However, there is a large part of our rural community that does not have access to reliable internet at home and/or their parents are busy working at jobs where they can't or aren't allowed time off - maybe they are grocery store employees or nurses or working at pharmacy... or maybe their bosses are just not taking this seriously! What about those kids? I worry that the low-income children will suffer the most.. they are missing out on the structure of school and may not be getting any education from home, they will fall behind and it will be so hard to catch up when school starts again. Thankfully our schools are doing what they can to provide meals at least. They are sending "boxed lunches" around to the students using the school buses to deliver them. More than half of our local students are considered "low income" and qualify for "free or reduced" meals at school. So for some of them the breakfast and lunch provided at school may be the most nutritious meals of the day.

This eve we had our first ZOOM yoga practice. It really worked well. I just had to work around snuggling dogs for the first 15 minutes... then they settled down.

I have read that this graduating group began their school when 911 hit, I haven't done the math yet.
It is crazy, there are so many people out and about, and I keep reading these horror stories from Italy, I do not know what to think.

My oldest grandchild is scheduled to receive his Master's in May. His fiancé, her Bachelor's. There will be no commencement. After years of hard work and $$$$$ in student debt. I have another grandchild who is a senior in high school. No prom for her. No graduation ceremony, either. In addition to her academic classes, she is a cosmetology student, who was scheduled to take her state board exams for her license. I guess that's not happening, either.

My daughter is a kindergarten teacher, retiring in May after 29 years in the classroom (26 in Kinder). While she was looking forward to retirement, she certainly didn't want it to end like this. And when can she re-enter the school to retrieve all her personal possessions in that classroom?

And my heart breaks for the thousands of people who are now finding themselves suddenly without a paycheck.
