Good evening everyone! I hope everyone is having a great day. I haven't posted in a little while but thought I would share with you our most recent adventure! We spent two nights at half moon lake in the wilderness west of Lake Tahoe. This time it was only me and Barry.
The evening before, when he had no idea what he was getting himself into:
Cooling his paws off mid hike:
Once we got to our destination, he looks so exhausted and beat lol:

Beautiful pictures! What a great adventure for Barry, I am very impressed with his endurance. Last time I hiked in Lake Tahoe (~12 years ago) we came upon a mama bear and her cubs, needless to say that was the last time I hiked that area but it is beautiful country.

It takes a lot of effort to make sure he has enough stamina for the hikes. Depending on the day, we are hiking 3-5 hours. If the weather is anything >65 degrees his endurance becomes non existent if he is exerting himself. To compensate for that we started hiking every day in the morning just as the sun was coming up when it was the coolest out and we were done before 10 or 11am.
Also the last time we went the terrain was a little rough on his paws and I had to carry him back down because they were starting to get a little raw and tender. This time around I purchased Mushers Secret paw wax and stopped every 30-45 mins to re-apply it all over his paws and underfoot webbing. I highly recommend it if you are taking your pugs anywhere with rough terrain. We took plenty of long naps throughout the days and this time he lasted the entire time and didn't need me to carry him!
We saw plenty of ducks, wild chickens, chipmunks and marmots while we were out there but thankfully no bears. It was a great time.

What a lucky Pug boy to get to go on such fun adventures. I love how you accommodate him so he is able to enjoy the hike with you. Pugs truly are the best companions.

Would love to go hiking there! Looks like Barry was very excited at the lake last time he was fishing for his supper, this time he looks like he is contemplating flame broiled duck!
