I believe I remember Jade (SmugPugs) posting that silver pugs do not have black hairs anywhere other than their mask. I apologize if I am misquoting her!

I guess the lady is wrong.

I am not calling Mai Tai "smutty" fawn. It has the connotation of "impure" and that is not right. People are always commenting on her coloring and how beautiful/unique it is. There were 2 other pugs at the meetup that were similar last week.

I like to call her "colored-fawn" or "Oreo pug"

Our Norman is a smutty fawn and a local police officer that has been working on our side street for awhile keeps calling him a 'dirty fawn'. That to me sounds way worse than smutty fawn ;) Its like he bumps into Norm at the other side of the curtain in the video store.

I agree the word smutty just does not sound nice. I like to refer to pugs that have alot of "black guard hairs" as "very dark pigment"...just sound nicer.

I have never actually seen a silver pug in person only by pictures. They are described looking like a pug in the moonlight and should NOT have ANY BLACK in their coat, except in their mask, as the standard calls for. I gather that it almost looks white.

Audrey I think is pretty close to being a "white" fawn. However, I just call her fawn. She has NO black guard hairs anywhere on her body and she has black nails and a black mask, but lacking a trace (as many of them are these days). I think she is just really light.

Maybe I have a silver pug and don't even know it....LOL
