Don't know about bay leaves but do know ground sage sprinkled on ants works very well. Yesterday I had about 500 ants congregating at the back door.I sprinkled sage there and within 2 hours they were gone. It's cheap and easy. I heard about it on PBS from the Home-Remedy English guy and it's true. I've been using sage for years on ants and we are ant free in the house.

Great tip about the Sage! I didn't know that one.

If I see a huge group of ants I usually dowse them with soapy dish water - it kills them right away. But for keeping them out of the house --- I didn't know Sage could work (or Bay leaves for that matter)!

    Thanks!!

I'm going to try the sage tip! I woke up this morning with ants in my kitchen, and I hate ants.
