So I just got a 1 year old black pug yesterday. My apt complex only allows 1 year and over..and house broken...so it really worked out. My girlfriend and I named him bentley. I have been finding out that pugs have really tiny bladders....but other than that...he slept with us last night...above our heads between us...haha i thought it was neat...
I joined this to learn as much info as I can to become the best owner I can be!
THank you
Brad

Hello and welcome.
Looking foward to hearing more about you and Bentley.
You mentioned bladder size. How often is he peeing, and has he been neutered?
Very frequent peeing could be a sign of a urinary tract infection. What were you told about his general toilet habits when you got him?

Hi Brad,
Welcome from Connecticut. I'm Alicia and I have a 9 month old black girl named Baxter. This is a great place to learn. I found this place in January and am already half way toward my PHD in Pug! Enjoy and ask lots of questions, it has been invaluable to me.
Welcome from Chicago!

wow....thanks for all the replies...
He hasnt been fixed yet....but since I got him yesterday I have 60 days to get the chip placed in him and get him fixed. I plan on making an appointment for a first check up on monday and then talk to the vet there about when to do the fixing and stuff.
I will post some pictures definitely.![]()
He may be marking, not peeing, since he is not neutered. This is common. Once he is neutered and a month or two passes and allows for all the hormones to get out of his system, the marking should subside. In the meantime you can get bellybands at Petsmart to help prevent the marking. Put a sanitary napkin in the band and it will help absorb the pee! At a lyear he should be able to hold it for quite a while. At least 5 hrs or more if needed. You have come to the right place Brad and enjoy your new life under the spell of a pug!

Even after they're fixed....males don't totally empty their bladder at times. They need usually need to pee several times outside before they're set!!!
I'm glad your pug found you!!!
Look forward to seeing pics!
