A lady at the vet's office said that pugs never are fully potty trained; they will continue to have accidents throughout their life. This is very disappointing news to me, because we are working so hard on potty/crate training. Are your pugs fully potty trained? If so, how old were they when they were fully trained?
How much does it rain there?
Some are great....some not so great. All bets are off when it rains.
Pugs are genetically programmed to think they will melt if a raindrop touches them.

Washington, DC has typical four seasons.
Tinker was pretty well trained by a year. Lisa's right about the rain, at least it's true for us.When it rains she would try to sneak somewhere and go inside. We are home all day so we could watch her and we're pretty consistent about when we walk and take her out. If it's raining we wait until it stops or is just misting then we go.If it's full on raining even if we get her out she won't go.People always want to tell you the worst. Expect the best and work toward that.

I'm not looking forward to the snow!
Snow is better than rain.
just be consistent. That is the key.

I live in Washington state where it rains 9 months out of the year, I have 5 pugs ranging in age from 15 months to 7 years... all are FULLY Potty trained. They do not like the rain and I often have to push them out the door (fenced back yard) but they go out whether they like it or not and they get to come back in when they are done going potty. If it wasn't for ripped up stolen tissues (and they WILL find one, somewhere) and getting up on my desk if I forget to tuck in the chair, they would be allowed to stay out of their room when I'm gone. Don't let naysayers scare you.. my pugs were pretty much all potty trained by a year old (a very very long year) and now, even my 15 month old doesn't have accidents.
BTW, if it happens to snow here, my dogs LOVE the snow.. go figure LOL

Otis seems to like winter so far :) when I bring him outside to go potty he gets distracted by trying to eat icicles and shoving his face in the snow hehe.
So far he is good at going right away when he's brought outside, but I still have trouble catching all his accidents when he's out in the house. Yesterday I was watching him like a hawk and he waited until I was setting the time on the microwave to pee behind me! He is 4 months old right now, and I've heard it can take 6 months to a year or more to get them fully trained, so I'm being patient. We have no carpet in the house at least! I mentioned in another post that he was having problems going in his crate as soon as he was put in, but I've been using a different one since yesterday (plastic sides instead of bars, same size but more enclosed), and he hasn't had one accident in this one yet :)
