Default Male puppy peeing on his front legs

I have started noticing that my 6 month old puppy is starting to lift his leg more to pee which is normal. However, now that he is lifting his leg, he pees a lot on his front leg. Is it common for male pugs to pee on themselves when they are this young? If so, when does their aim improve. :) I have only had female dogs in the past so this is something new for me. Currently, I just wipe his front leg with a wipe when he gets it on himself. Not a big bother but curious if this is a stage or does it continue in adulthood?

I'm impressed that he lifts his leg. My Zuko is two and still squats...LOL!

Yes, I would say that their aim usually does improve as they age. He probably just needs to fine-tune his balance for that tricky 3-legged balancing act! After he's mastered that, he may want to test his skills at the "handstand pee."

This isn't my pug, but there are videos all over the internet like this:

I don't recall either of mine doing that. However it may simply be a case of luck, because when they started they would sometimes be rather wobbly and have to squat down half way through. If it continues I would have some concerns about his conformation and it might be worth videoing the process a few times and then consulting your vet. For the next few weeks, though, I'd put it down to him just trying to get his balance right.

My Goliath does a cartwheel sometimes when he pees. It is so funny! I'm sure your guy will stop peeing on his leg as he gets older.

Zuko! Your momma is to "assume the position" - much like a swan in the ballet - SHOWING you how if you lift your leg high, opening your hip, the height that is possible for the pee shot is astonishing and will earn you great respect in the 'hood!

.......Harvey's too wobbly on his feet to lift his leg anymore, but more times than not these days he pees over a front paw while he squats :(

I'm afraid if your pug develops the habit of a handstand wee then he may always wee on his legs/tummy. It just requires a constant supply of wipes when he comes back in!
I speak from experience, my pug does not wee without a handstand!! He's 3 and I believe it's a habit that's here to stay :) He literally comes up to us for a wipe now when he comes in.

Our Ari peed on himself quite a bit when he was learning to lift his leg. Thankfully...at 2 years, he has finally mastered it without getting it on himself....usually. ;)

The handstand pee never ceases to amaze me, and crack me up! :
