We're making some changes to our mobile applications at the end of this month that we would like to share with you.
First, the two apps (Petguide.com Free App and Petguide.com App) are being discontinued by the software developer that created them for us. As such, those apps will not work past May 31st, 2015.
Second, we are introducing a new way to access the forum through mobile applications. The new Petguide.com app is based on our Topify in-web version, and is developed with photos in mind, and allows you to save your favourite forums, receive notifications, change your theme, and access all of your favourite Pet communities. We work very closely with the developers of this application, so we can build and add custom features as requested by the community; a luxury we did not have with the former applications. Please send us your ideas!
Lastly, we will be allowing Tapatalk users to now access the sites via their app. However, because it is not affiliated with our company, we do not provide technical assistance.
EDIT: The new apps are available now here IOS and here ANDROID
Is there any reason why we might want the old app as opposed to the new? Should we let the membership know that the old app will be disappearing soon in case they want it for an older device or some other reason?

Just curious - since there are only 199 views of this thread do you have analytics to determine the number of App users? That would identify the exposure to just shutting off the application. If not maybe a sticky at the top of the main forums areas. Then after another 30 days drop the sticky.
The first post says the Apps will not work, another post sounds like it will work but will be unavailable from the stores for download.
By May 31st, the old app will NOT allow users to access PV even if they don't delete it from their mobile device. As for the choice of the date, it's not so much an analytics issue as it is a resource issue. The new mobile app we've released was developed in-house so we're devoting our resources to develop it and troubleshoot issues. Eventually, we're going to have to cut off access to the old app and so the above date was selected.
